Effective 2026-10-15
Short, in plain words, because that is how we would say it to you. What we do with your data is in the privacy policy.
What Chorus is
A runner sets up a race and shares one link. The people who love them pick a mile and record a short note. On race day, the Chorus app plays each note in the runner’s ears at the mile it was left for. Afterwards there is a replay, and, if someone covers it, a keepsake of every note. Chorus is made by Holy Schmitt Studios LLC.
Accounts
Runners sign in with Apple or Google. Supporters need no account; a name and a browser will do. You are responsible for what happens under your sign-in, and you agree to be old enough to make this agreement where you live. One person, one account.
Notes and consent
A note is yours. By recording one you give the runner permission to hear it, to keep it in their keepsake, and to include it in the replay they choose to share. The runner decides who hears their notes; by default only people they send the link to. Record for people who want to hear from you, in words you would say to their face. We remove recordings that are abusive, unlawful, or made of someone without their consent, and we may close accounts that make them.
Keepsakes and payments
A keepsake is paid for once per race, at a price the buyer picks within the range shown, through Stripe. We never see card numbers. If two people pay for the same keepsake, the second payment is refunded automatically. A keepsake is free when a note failed to play when it should have, and in a few other cases the product says out loud. If something went wrong with a purchase, write to us and we will make it right.
Race day
Playback depends on your phone: its location permission, its battery, its GPS, and the course itself. Prepare before the race so every note is on the phone and nothing needs a signal. We work hard to play every note at its mile and we do not promise it. When a note that should have played did not, your keepsake is free; that is the extent of the promise.
Fair use
Use Chorus for its purpose. Do not harass anyone through it, do not record people without their consent, do not scrape it, overload it, break its security, or build something that passes off our work as yours. Share links are for the people in a runner’s life, not for mailing lists.
What is yours and what is ours
Your recordings, your name, and your race are yours. The Chorus software, design, name and marks are ours, and we give you a personal, revocable licence to use the app and the site as they are offered. Race names belong to their organisers; we list them so your people know where you are running.
Ending things
You can delete your account any time, from the app or from Settings on the site. That removes your races, your links, every note left for you, and the sign-in itself, for good. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Either way, notes you recorded for other runners stay with those runners unless you delete them first.
Liability
Chorus is provided as it is, with care and without warranty. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for anything arising from Chorus is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights the law does not let us limit.
Changes
When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and we will tell you by email about anything that matters. Using Chorus after that date means you accept the new terms.
